College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for California State University, Long Beach in Long Beach, California. Every account is verified with a @student.csulb.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Beach students, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
CSULB housing is organized into three residential villages. Hillside Village holds the suite-style buildings Hillside A, Hillside B, Hillside C, Hillside D, Hillside E and Hillside F plus the International House, alongside the traditional halls Los Alamitos, Los Cerritos and La Playa, the new 424-bed complex opening this fall. Parkside Village runs Parkside G, Parkside H, Parkside J, Parkside K, Parkside L, Parkside M, Parkside N, Parkside P and Parkside Q, plus the four-story Parkside North. A mile and a half down Pacific Coast Highway, Atlantic Hall and Pacific Hall make up Beachside Village. Wherever you land, everything you need is already on campus. Beach students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, fans, monitors, bikes and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.
Check the rules before you spend. Every resident gets a bed, dresser, desk, chair, bookshelf, closet and mirror, and every room comes with a MicroFridge combining a microwave, refrigerator and freezer, so personal fridges and standalone microwaves are not allowed. Beds measure 80 by 34 inches, meaning twin XL is the only bedding that fits. Raising a bed that was not designed to be raised is prohibited, explicitly including cinder blocks, lumber and fence poles, so skip the riser sets. Air conditioning is the thing to check first: only Parkside North, Los Alamitos, Los Cerritos, La Playa, Atlantic Hall and Pacific Hall have it. The suite-style letter buildings have AC in the common room only, ceiling fans in bedrooms, and personal AC units are banned, which is why used fans move fast in August. Also prohibited: space heaters, hot plates, toaster ovens, air fryers, rice cookers, halogen lamps and electric scooters and bikes.
Meet somewhere busy and central. The University Library, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Friendship Walk and the University Bookstore stay packed between classes, and Hillside Commons and Parkside Commons are the easiest handoffs if you both live on campus. Worth knowing: the University Student Union is closed for renovation through summer 2028, so do not plan to meet there. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
Fall 2026 move-in runs August 20 through 23 with check-in windows assigned by building, and that stretch is when the marketplace is busiest.
