College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Every account is verified with a @ksu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Wildcats — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Most first-year Wildcats land in the Derby Community — Ford Hall, Haymaker Hall, Moore Hall and West Hall — or in the Kramer Community, which covers Goodnow Hall, Marlatt Hall and the newer Wefald Hall. The Strong Community adds Boyd Hall and Van Zile Hall on east campus, Smurthwaite Scholarship and Leadership House houses about 45 women in a scholarship and leadership setting, and upper-division students, graduate students and student families move into Jardine Apartments. K-State requires full-time, first-year undergraduates to live in university residence halls their first two semesters unless an exemption is granted, which means an entire class furnishes rooms on the same schedule and everything you need is already on campus. K-State students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Know the specs before you buy. Every room comes with an XL twin bed, a desk, a desk chair and a two-drawer dresser, so extra-long twin sheets are the only size that will fit. Beds are loftable and bunkable and Housing supplies the hardware — frames adjust up to 70 inches in three-inch increments under roughly eight-foot ceilings — so you're really shopping for what goes underneath, not for risers. Refrigerators have to come in under 5.0 cubic feet and microwaves are capped at 1,200 watts, though Wefald rooms already include one. Personal air conditioners, space heaters, halogen lamps and anything with an exposed heating element are prohibited, so skip those listings entirely.

When it's time to hand something off, stay somewhere busy and central: the K-State Student Union, Hale Library, the Peters Recreation Complex, Bosco Student Plaza, or right outside Derby Dining Center or Kramer Dining Center. All of them are a short walk from the halls, well lit and full of people — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Halls open for fall on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, and the days on either side of that are the busiest of the year for listings. The spring move-out rush is the other big window, when graduating seniors clear out furniture and appliances all at once.
