Whether you're up on Daisy Hill in Oswald, Self, Downs, Ellsworth, Hashinger, Templin, or Lewis, in Corbin or GSP near central campus, in one of KU's twelve scholarship halls like Battenfeld, Douthart, Miller, or Watkins, or in apartments at Jayhawker Towers, McCarthy, Stouffer Place, or Hawker, Everything you need is already on campus. KU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail. Students living off campus use it too. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.
Lewis Hall reopens for 2026-27
Lewis Hall has been closed for renovations and is back in KU's housing lineup for the 2026-27 academic year. A newly reopened hall means a full building furnishing rooms from scratch in August, which is worth watching if you're buying.
Meeting up on campus
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. The Kansas Union, Watson and Anschutz libraries, and the Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center are all easy meeting points between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no driving across town to meet someone off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the KU student who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
The weeks that matter most
Move-in in August and move-out in May are when the marketplace is busiest. Graduating seniors and students heading home for the summer are clearing out furniture, fridges, and storage all at once, and incoming students need all of it. If you're selling, post before the rush. If you're buying, that's when the good stuff appears and disappears the same day.
