College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. Every account is verified with a @jacksonville.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Dolphins — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
JU is very much a live-on campus: full-time undergraduates are required to live on campus for three academic years following high school graduation, so most of the people you're buying from are a short walk away. First-year students land in Botts Hall or Williams Hall, while North Hall is home to Honors, University Scholar, and NROTC students. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors move into suite-style Oak Hall, the largest residential community on campus, and seniors and graduate students can apply for the four-bedroom Village Apartments. Across those five communities, everything you need is already on campus. JU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.
Every room comes furnished with a bed, mattress, desk, desk chair, and wardrobe or closet space, and all halls and apartments use extra-long twin beds (80 inches), so standard twin sheets simply won't fit — Twin XL bedding is one of the most-traded items here. Beds can be raised, but only on the provided bed ends; external lofting kits, cinder blocks, and bed risers are prohibited, and beds can't be set on the top rung. Mini fridges must be 3.5 cubic feet or smaller and microwaves 800 watts or less. Full-size refrigerators, air fryers, toaster ovens, hot plates, space heaters, and personal air conditioners are not allowed in the residence halls, though Village Apartments residents can use cooking appliances in their kitchens. Extra furniture can't be brought into a room either, which is exactly why compact, dorm-legal gear resells so quickly.
Meet in daylight, somewhere busy. The Kinne University Center is the obvious choice — the bookstore and Riverview Dining Hall are both inside — and Carl S. Swisher Library, the Davis Student Commons, and the Nimnicht Fitness Center all work just as well between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
