Where Jaguars buy and sell

IU Indianapolis has four residence halls, all walkable to campus and on the free JagLINE shuttle route. Ball Hall opened in 1928 and houses 325 students in single, double, and triple rooms — renovated, with in-room air conditioning and heat control. North Hall is the newest, around 600 students, with single and double rooms and some private bathrooms. University Tower offers triple rooms with private bathrooms and skyline views in the heart of campus. Riverwalk Apartments has two- and four-bedroom apartments and townhomes with full kitchens and private laundry. Jaguars post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, seating, kitchen gear, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Most Jaguars commute — which makes this more useful, not less

The majority of IU Indianapolis students live off campus and drive or take transit in. That normally means buying furniture involves crossing Indianapolis to meet a stranger at their apartment. It doesn't have to. The Campus Center and the University Library are places you're already walking through between classes — do the handoff there and you've added nothing to your day. If you're both on campus anyway, that beats a drive to Broad Ripple or the south side every time.

Riverwalk changes what you need

Moving from a residence hall room into a Riverwalk apartment or townhome means a full kitchen to stock — pots, pans, a table, seating — none of which a dorm room called for. Riverwalk residents also aren't automatically assigned a meal plan, unlike Ball, North Hall, and University Tower, so cooking gear matters more there. Most of it turns over between students each spring.

Meeting up downtown

Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. The Campus Center is the hub — it houses The Jag fitness facility and most student services — with the University Library a short walk away and the Canal running through campus. The JagLINE covers the rest. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone across Indianapolis off Craigslist.

Textbooks without the bookstore markup

Course materials for nursing, health sciences, engineering, and business run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Jaguar who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
