Where Sycamores buy and sell
Indiana State's campus is walkable and its halls each have their own character. Cromwell connects directly to Sycamore Dining. Erickson sits near Campus Police and the Welcome Center and houses transfer and upperclass students. Pickerl is home to Honors College students. Reeve houses eight of Indiana State's sororities, each with its own pod. Sandison is fully air-conditioned with private bathrooms and includes the McKee Nursing Lounge. Hines is reopening for Fall 2026 near the north entrance of Hulman Memorial Student Union, with traditional doubles and private in-room bathrooms. There are also University Apartments for upperclass students. Sycamores post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, seating, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.
Hines Hall reopens this fall
Hines Hall is coming back online for Fall 2026. A hall reopening means a building's worth of students furnishing rooms from scratch in one August — worth watching the feed early if you're buying or selling.
Don't buy a loft kit — rent one
Indiana State runs its own bedloft rental through the housing portal at the start of the academic year. That makes buying a used loft kit largely pointless here, unlike at most schools. Put the money toward a rug, storage, or seating instead — those are what actually move on campus.
Meeting up on campus
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. Hulman Memorial Student Union is the center of campus — the Commons, Dede Activity Center, and the campus Starbucks are all inside it — with Cunningham Memorial Library, the Student Recreation Center, and Sycamore Dining close by. Campus is compact enough that most handoffs take five minutes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no driving across Terre Haute to meet someone off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials for nursing, aviation, criminology, and the sciences run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Sycamore who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
