College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Every account is verified with a @student.uiwtx.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Cardinals — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

UIW's residential campus splits neatly between first-year houses and upperclass options. New students land in Agnese/Sosa, Clement Hall, Dubuis Hall, Joeris Hall, or Sky View Hall, while returning Cardinals move up to Avoca, Hillside Hall, McCombs Hall, St. Joseph's Hall, Township Apartments, or Watson Lofts — several of which come with full kitchens or in-room laundry, which changes what you actually need to buy. Housing here isn't mandatory; rooms are assigned first-come, first-served with priority given to undergraduates, so the trading calendar follows application deadlines more than anything else. Whichever building you end up in, everything you need is already on campus. UIW students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms come furnished, and the rules are specific enough to be worth knowing before you buy someone's old setup. Residence Life caps mini fridges at 4.5 cubic feet and microwaves at 750 watts, so check the label on anything secondhand before money changes hands. Hand-built wooden lofts are banned outright and carry a $25 fine plus immediate disassembly, though the furniture in Dubuis Hall and Township Apartments arrives already lofted and is supposed to stay that way. Beds have to be un-bunked and set back at standard height by checkout. Air fryers, hot plates, grills, electric skillets, space heaters, halogen lamps, candles, and extension cords all sit on the prohibited list — surge-protected power strips are the accepted alternative, and they move fast in August.

Meeting up is simple when both people are already on campus. The Student Engagement Center is the easiest daytime handoff, the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Library works when you want somewhere quiet and staffed, and the Grotto is a landmark nobody needs directions to. Pick a spot, walk over between classes, hand off the item: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
