College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Houston Christian University in Houston, Texas. Every account is verified with a @hc.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Huskies — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-year Huskies live in the Freshman Village, which is made up of the Reuben L. Philips Residence College for Men, the Rebecca Bates Philips Residence College for Women, and the Mest Wing Residence for Women. Sophomores and upperclassmen move into Hodo Residence College, the six-story building named for HCU's second president, or into apartment-style housing at Husky Village and University Place, the newest community, just over Friendship Bridge. HCU is residential by design: unmarried undergraduates under 21 who aren't living at home, along with anyone who has completed fewer than 64 credit hours, are required to live on campus. That means people are moving in, moving up a floor plan, and moving out every single year — and everything you need is already on campus. HCU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Every student is provided with a bed, dresser, desk, and desk chair, and all bed sizes are twin XL, so buy the sheets accordingly and skip the standard twin set. Suite common areas in the Men's and Women's Residence Colleges have a full-size refrigerator shared by everyone in the suite, while Husky Village and University Place apartments come with full kitchens and living areas; University Place bedrooms are set up with lofted beds, desks, chairs, and dressers. Microwaves are allowed as long as they are 1000 watts or less, and popcorn poppers, rice cookers, hot pots, and coffee pots are permitted too. Toaster ovens, space heaters, hot plates, and George Foreman-style grills are not — so check the wattage before you buy someone's secondhand setup.

When it's time to hand something off, meet somewhere busy and central. Moody Library, the Baugh Center, and the Morris Cultural Arts Center are all easy landmarks and a short walk from just about every hall. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
