College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. Every account is verified with a @student.gsu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Panthers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Housing downtown looks different from a typical college campus, and so does the resale market. First-year Panthers mostly land in Patton Hall, Piedmont Central, or Piedmont North, where suite and semi-suite rooms share bathrooms and a dining hall sits a floor or an elevator ride away. Upperclass students move into apartment-style space at University Commons and University Lofts, both of which come with full kitchens — which is exactly when people start hunting for a couch, a rug, a coffee table, and a set of pots that doesn't cost a paycheck. Georgia State doesn't require anyone to live on campus, so rooms turn over constantly and everything you need is already within a few blocks. Georgia State students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Know what's already in the room before you buy anything. University Housing furnishes a bed, dresser, desk and chair, and either a wardrobe or a closet depending on the layout, and the dining areas in the Commons and the Lofts include a table and chairs. None of it can be removed, stored, or dismantled, so plan around it. Mattresses are generally 36" x 80" XL twin, which means extra-long twin sheets rather than standard sets. All five buildings are air conditioned, and suites in Patton and the apartments in the Commons and Lofts have their own thermostats. Beds can be raised, lowered, or lofted only through a housing work order, and Housing supplies one guardrail per lofted bed. Personal microwaves are prohibited — Piedmont North rooms come with a MicroFridge — as are extension cords, personal routers, halogen lamps, space heaters and other open-element appliances, and electric scooters and hoverboards. Power strips need 14- or 12-gauge wire.

Meeting up is simple when the campus is stacked into a handful of downtown blocks. Library Plaza is the obvious midday handoff, and Student Center East, Student Center West, the University Library (Library North), the Student Recreation Center, and Hurt Park are all busy, public, and a short walk from every residence hall. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
