Where Hoyas buy and sell
Georgetown requires students to live on campus for three years, so the Hilltop turns over constantly. Whether you're a first-year in Copley, Darnall, Harbin, New South, or Reynolds, in upperclass housing at Village A, Village C East or West, LXR, Kennedy, McCarthy, Arrupe, Nevils, Alumni Square, the Townhouses, or Ida Ryan & Isaac Hawkins Hall, in the newer Byrnes and Hayden halls or Henle Village, or down at 55 H Street on the Capitol Campus, everything you need is already close. Hoyas post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.
One rule that shapes what sells here
Georgetown only permits microwaves as part of an approved MicroFridge combo unit — a standalone microwave isn't allowed in on-campus housing. That makes secondhand MicroFridge units genuinely worth watching for, and it's why a plain microwave listing won't help most Hoyas. Worth checking what you're buying actually is before you pay for it.
Meeting up on the Hilltop
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. The Leavey Center, Lauinger Library, the Healey Family Student Center, and Yates Field House are all within a short walk of most residences. Note that the Healy and Copley Lawn utility project runs through spring 2027, so paths around Healy Circle and Copley Lawn shift periodically — worth naming a building rather than a lawn. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone across D.C. off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials for the School of Foreign Service, the McDonough School of Business, and the sciences run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Hoya who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
