College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. Every account is verified with a @gardner-webb.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Runnin' Bulldogs — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Gardner-Webb keeps most undergraduates on campus, and the residency policy is a real one: you live in university housing unless you're 21 before the contract year, commuting from a parent or guardian's home, past 90 credit hours or six semesters in housing, married, part-time, or otherwise exempt. First-year women are placed in Stroup Hall, Myers Hall, and Spangler Hall, while first-year men live in Nanney Hall and Mauney Hall. Returning students spread out into Decker Hall, Royster Hall, and Lutz-Yelton Hall, into Honors housing in H.A.P.Y. Hall (women) and the H.A.P.Y. Wing (men), or up into suite and apartment living in the University Commons Suites and University Commons Apartments. With that much shuffling every May and August, everything you need is already on campus. Gardner-Webb students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms already come with a bed, desk, chair, chest of drawers, and a closet with extra storage, so what you're really shopping for is everything else. Most halls use extra-long twin mattresses, but the University Commons Apartments have full-size beds and H.A.P.Y. Hall and the H.A.P.Y. Wing use standard twins — check which building a set of linens came out of before you buy. Beds can be lofted in the traditional halls and the University Commons Suites, and residents of Decker, Royster, Stroup, and the Commons Suites have to use the approved lofting kit sold through the Campus Shop. Mini fridges are capped at 4.6 cubic feet (the university also rents them), microwaves are permitted, and laundry is free. Space heaters, portable air conditioners, extension cords, halogen lamps, candles, grills, and deep fryers are all prohibited, so don't buy one secondhand.

Meeting up is easy on a 225-acre campus. Trade in daylight at the Tucker Student Center, outside the John R. Dover Memorial Library, near the Dover Campus Center or the Suttle Wellness Center, at the Gardner-Webb Barnes & Noble Campus Shop, or on The Quad — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
