Buying & selling at Florida Atlantic University

Campus details for Florida Atlantic students.

College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. Every account is verified with a @fau.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Owls — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Most first-year Owls land in the suite-style towers on the north side of the Boca Raton campus — Glades Park Towers, Heritage Park Towers, Indian River Towers, and Atlantic Park Towers — while Parliament Hall houses a mix of first-time-in-college and upperclass students. Talon Hall, the seven-story building opening for Fall 2026, is aimed mainly at second-year students. Upperclass students who want a kitchen and an apartment setup move into Innovation Village Apartments North, Innovation Village Apartments South, or University Village Apartments. Whichever building you end up in, everything you need is already on campus. Florida Atlantic students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Beds in the halls take Twin Extra-Long mattresses, so XL sheets are the first thing to hunt for. FAU caps personal refrigerators at 3.6 cubic feet and 400 watts and microwaves at 1,100 watts, which is exactly why secondhand cube fridges disappear so quickly in August. Residence hall residents may keep an air fryer, blender, electric kettle, or coffee maker in the suite, but toasters, hot plates, deep fryers, and anything with an open heating element are prohibited; apartment residents at Innovation Village and University Village get a longer list that includes toaster ovens, crock pots, small electric grills, and food processors. Talon Hall rooms come with a full-size fridge with a top freezer and a separate microwave unit, a desk, and a closet. Every piece of university furniture in the room at check-in has to stay there, and nails, tacks, and wall-damaging adhesives are banned — so removable hooks, freestanding shelves, and over-the-door racks are constant trades. Free laundry and community kitchens are standard across the halls.

When it's time to hand something off, keep it public and on campus. The Student Union and The Breezeway stay busy from morning through evening, and the S.E. Wimberly Library, the Recreation & Fitness Center, and Atlantic Dining Hall all work well for a quick meetup between classes — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
