College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Every account is verified with an @emory.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Eagles — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Emory requires first-year and second-year students to live in university-owned or leased housing, which means most of the undergraduate campus turns over its stuff on the same schedule. First-years land in Alabama Hall, Dobbs Hall, Eagle Hall, Hamilton Holmes Hall, Harris Hall, Raoul Hall, Turman Hall, or the Complex of Hopkins Hall, Smith Hall, and Thomas Hall. Sophomores move into Clifton Tower, Few Hall, Evans Hall, Harris Hall, or the Woodruff Residential Center, and juniors and seniors head out to the Clairmont Campus apartments — the Undergraduate Residential Center, the Clairmont Residential Center, and Clairmont Tower. Between those buildings, everything you need is already on campus. Emory students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

A hall room comes furnished with a bed, dresser, side table, desk, and chair, so most of the buying and selling here is about filling gaps rather than starting from zero. Beds on the Atlanta campus take twin XL sheets (36" x 80"), while the Clairmont URC and CRC apartments use full XL (53" x 80") — which is exactly why sheet sets and mattress toppers get relisted every time someone moves across campus. Mini fridges have to be UL approved and 3.0 cubic feet or smaller, and microwaves are only permitted in apartment-style housing, so a MicroFridge is the usual workaround in the halls. Rooms are air conditioned and utilities and laundry are included in the housing rate, so leave the window unit at home. Extension cords, halogen lamps, string lights, space heaters, hot plates, and personal WiFi routers are all on the do-not-bring list, and university furniture can't be modified or built into a homemade loft.

When it's time to hand something off, meet somewhere busy and well-lit. The Emory Student Center and the Dobbs Common Table inside it are the easy default, and Asbury Circle sits at the crossroads of almost every walking route on campus. The Robert W. Woodruff Library, Cox Hall, and the Woodruff Physical Education Center all work just as well for a quick trade between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
