College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. Every account is verified with a @mymail.eku.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Colonels — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

EKU has a two-year residency requirement: single, full-time undergraduates under 21 with fewer than 60 earned credit hours live in university housing, so most of campus is furnishing a room in August whether they planned to or not. First- and second-year students land in the traditional community-bath halls — Mattox Hall, Palmer Hall, Sullivan Hall, Clay Hall, Keene Hall, Walters Hall and Burnam Hall — or in the suite-style buildings, Telford Hall, Martin Hall and North Hall, where a bathroom is shared among four residents. South Hall opens up once you have 30+ post-high-school hours, and the Grand Campus apartments are reserved for students with 60+ hours or anyone 21 and over. Between Richmond's limited big-box options and the length of that live-on requirement, everything you need is already on campus. EKU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Every room already comes with a bed, desk, chair, and dresser for each student, so the buying is mostly about the extras. Bring extra-long twin sheets for almost every building; Telford Hall is the exception, where standard twin sheets fit. Mattox Hall beds can be raised to open up storage or a study nook underneath. Housing caps refrigerators at 4.5 cubic feet and microwaves at 700 watts, and the prohibited list is worth reading before you buy secondhand: bed risers, space heaters, air fryers, toasters, hot plates, candles, lava lamps, and outlet extenders are all out, though a UL-approved power strip with its own circuit breaker is fine. Note too that Mattox, Sullivan, Burnam, and Telford have no elevator, which is a real consideration when you're hauling a futon.

When it's time to hand something off, stay somewhere busy and public. The Powell Student Center is the obvious first choice, and Crabbe Library, the Student Recreation Center, Case Dining Hall, the EKU Bookstore, and The Ravine all work just as well in daylight with people around. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
