College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for East Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. Every account is verified with a @leomail.etamu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Lions — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
First-year Lions land in Whitley Hall, the twelve-story high-rise on the Commerce skyline, or in suite-style Pride Rock and Phase III. Sophomores fill Phase II and the smaller two-story F4, F5 and F6 halls, and upperclass students move into apartment living at New Pride Apartments or Prairie Crossing, which asks for a 3.0 GPA. Because East Texas A&M requires full-time, first-year undergraduates who enroll in face-to-face classes in Commerce within a year of high school graduation to live on campus, a whole class arrives every August furnishing a room from scratch — and everything you need is already on campus. East Texas A&M students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.
Check the bed size before you buy sheets, because it genuinely varies by building here. Whitley, Pride Rock, Phase II and Phase III use XL Twin mattresses (36" x 80"), the F-Halls and New Pride use standard twins, and Prairie Crossing units come with full beds. Every room is furnished with Residential Living and Learning furniture — bed, desk, dresser or night stand, and a closet, with wardrobes in some Whitley rooms — so what people actually shop for is everything else. Housing caps refrigerators at 4 cubic feet and 2 amps and microwaves at 700 watts, and prohibits toasters, air fryers, crock pots, space heaters, halogen lamps, extension cords and string lights, so it pays to buy the compliant version secondhand from someone who already knows the rule.
Meet somewhere public and busy. The Rayburn Student Center, Gee Library, and the Quad are all short walks from the halls and busy most of the day. Hand off the futon, check that the monitor powers on, split the cash — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
