Buying & selling at East Tennessee State

Campus details for East Tennessee State students.

College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Every account is verified with an @etsu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Bucs — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-year Bucs land in Governors Hall, Lucille Clement Hall, Powell Hall, West Hall, or the suite-style Stone Hall, while the living-learning communities in Carter Hall (Honors) and Dossett Hall (Music) pull students together around a shared focus. Returning residents move up to Centennial Hall, Davis Apartments, Luntsford Apartments, and the full apartments at Buccaneer Ridge Apartments, where transfer students are housed. Whichever building you land in, everything you need is already on campus. East Tennessee State students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms come furnished with a bed, desk, and dresser for each resident, plus at least a small lavatory sink. Most buildings have built-in closets, but Governors, West, Davis, and Luntsford use wardrobes instead, which is why hanging organizers and under-bed bins move fast here. Beds in halls like Governors, Stone, and Luntsford are moveable loft beds, so the useful buy is usually storage that fits underneath rather than risers. Sizing matters for bedding: most halls use an Extra Long Twin (36x80) mattress, Stone Hall uses a standard twin (38x75), and Buccaneer Ridge residents outside the four-person quads get a full-size mattress, so confirm the building before you buy someone's sheets. Every residence hall and apartment is air conditioned and personal window units are prohibited. Mini fridges are allowed up to 5 cubic feet, while space heaters, hot plates, halogen lamps, candles, and extension cords are not — surge protectors are the approved alternative. Rates cover utilities, water, cable, laundry, and high-speed internet, and residence hall students carry the All-Access Silver Dining Plan.

For handoffs, stick to the busy middle of campus. The D.P. Culp Student Center and Borchuck Plaza just outside it are the obvious choice, and Sherrod Library, the ETSU Campus Store, and the Wayne G. Basler Center for Physical Activity all work just as well between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
