College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Every account is verified with a @students.ecu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Pirates — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
ECU splits its residence halls into three neighborhoods, and most of the trading happens inside them. On College Hill you'll find Ballard Hall, Scott Hall, Tyler Hall, Legacy Hall (back in service for 2026-27 after a yearlong renovation) and College Hill Suites, which houses returning and transfer students. The Central neighborhood covers Cotten Hall, Fleming Hall, Jarvis Hall and Umstead Hall, the last of those sitting right next to the Main Campus Student Center. Over in West End there's Clement Hall, Fletcher Hall, Garrett Hall, Greene Hall and White Hall. First-year students have to live in campus housing for at least two semesters, so turnover is constant and everything you need is already on campus. East Carolina students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.
Know what your room already has before you spend anything. Every ECU residence hall room is air conditioned and comes furnished with a bed, a desk with drawers, a chair, and a dresser plus closet or wardrobe space — and a microwave and refrigerator are supplied in the room, so that purchase is one you can skip entirely. Beds are twin XL, so shop for 80-inch linens rather than standard twin. Frames are bunkable and adjust to roughly 24 inches, with risers adding another three to eight; ECU allows UL-listed bed lifts but bans non-approved lofts, so ask before you buy a secondhand kit. Also on the leave-at-home list: air fryers, pressure cookers, hot plates, space heaters, window air conditioners, extension cords, and candles. Crock pots are fine.
When it's time to hand something off, stay on campus and stay visible. The Main Campus Student Center is the easiest meetup on main campus, and Joyner Library, the Eakin Student Recreation Center, Todd Dining Hall and West End Dining Hall all work just as well — busy, well lit, and a short walk from wherever you live. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
