College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. Every account is verified with a @udmercy.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Titans, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Undergraduate housing sits on the McNichols Campus, and it's a small enough residential community that a good listing tends to move fast. First-year students land in Shiple Hall, the seven-story home of the First Year Experience program. Upperclass residents spread across the Quads Complex, four connected four-story buildings billed individually as East Quad, North Quad, South Quad, and West Quad, all joined at the basement level by the Quad Commons. Holden Hall rounds things out as a traditional co-ed hall with newly renovated community bathrooms. Full-time first-year students who don't live within a 30-mile radius of campus are required to live on campus, which means a fresh wave of people furnishing a room from scratch every August. Everything you need is already on campus. Detroit Mercy students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Check the rules before you buy. Shiple and Holden use Twin XL mattresses, while the Quads have a mix of standard twin and Twin XL beds, so measure before committing to a sheet set. Each resident gets a bed and mattress, a desk with a hutch and drawer, a desk chair, and a closet and/or chest of drawers. Rooms in the Quads are air conditioned; personal air conditioners are prohibited in every hall, so a standard fan is the only alternative. Homemade lofts aren't permitted anywhere. The University rents lofts for $100 a year, first come first served, and only in Shiple Hall, and beds have to go back to their original bunked height at checkout. Refrigerators cap at 5 cubic feet, microwaves at 700 watts, and toasters, hot plates, space heaters and crock pots are all out.

Hand-offs are easy when both people are already here. Meet at the Student Union, the Titan Dining Room on its second floor, the McNichols Campus Library, the Whitty Student Fitness Center, the Detroit Mercy Spirit Store, or Quad Commons if you both live in the Quads. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
