College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado. Every account is verified with a @du.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Pioneers — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

DU has a two-year live-on requirement: incoming first-year, second-year, and transfer students all live on campus and carry a residential meal plan, which makes housing turnover here constant and predictable. First-years land in Centennial Halls, Johnson-McFarlane Hall (J-Mac to anyone who lives there), or the Dimond Family Residential Village. Second-years mostly fill Nelson Hall and the suites in Nagel Hall, transfer students get the Transfer House, and Centennial Towers mixes second-, third- and fourth-years with graduate students. Juniors and seniors who want a real kitchen move over to Hilltop Apartments or University Place Apartments. Whichever building you end up in, everything you need is already on campus. DU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every quarter — usually for a fraction of retail.

Check the rules before you buy anything. Beds in the residence halls are extra-long twin, so standard twin sheets won't fit, and that is the most common shopping mistake here. The Guide to Residence Living is blunt about furniture: you can't loft, bunk, or stack beds or furniture yourself, and bed lifts and homemade lofts aren't allowed, so skip the riser kits. Rooms in Centennial Halls, J-Mac, and Dimond already come with a combination refrigerator-freezer/microwave unit, and Nagel's suites have one too, which makes a second mini fridge redundant. Nelson, Nagel, Centennial Towers, and the Transfer House have air-conditioned bedrooms; Centennial Halls, J-Mac, and Hilltop don't, and those three are the only buildings where Housing permits a small evaporative cooler (150 watts, 44 BTUs, 3-gallon tank). Toasters, frying pans, griddles, pressure cookers, space heaters, and extension cords are all prohibited in the halls, though surge protectors are fine. Apartment kitchens at Hilltop and University Place arrive with a refrigerator, a stove and oven, and a table and chairs.

Meet up somewhere busy and central. The Community Commons and Driscoll Student Center are the two obvious handoff points, and the Anderson Academic Commons, the Ritchie Center, and the DU Bookstore all work just as well between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
