College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. Every account is verified with a @udel.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Blue Hens — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
UD housing spreads across four campus areas, and the building you land in shapes what you need to buy. Every newly admitted first-year is required to live on campus, and first-years get placed anywhere in the system. South Central holds the historic halls along The Green — Cannon, Kent, New Castle, Squire, and Sussex — plus Smyth, South Academy, and the newer Caesar Rodney. East Campus is Harrington, Lane, Thompson, Eliphalet Gilbert, and Louis L. Redding; North Central is Harter, Sharp, and Sypherd. Laird Campus is suite-style, two bedrooms sharing a bath: George Read, Independence, James Smith, Thomas McKean, and Ray Street, and anyone who wants a full kitchen heads for University Courtyard Apartments. Everything you need is already on campus: UD students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.
Check your building before you spend anything. Rooms come with a twin XL bed, a writing table and chair, a wardrobe or built-in closet, and a dresser, so twin XL sheets are the safe buy — the Courtyard apartments are the exception, with full-size beds and furnished living rooms. Air conditioning is the variable: the suite halls, the Courtyards, Caesar Rodney, Gilbert, Kent, Redding, Sharp, South Academy, Squire, Sussex, and Sypherd have it, while Cannon, Harrington, Harter, Lane, New Castle, Smyth, and Thompson do not, and personal AC units are banned, so fans and air purifiers move fast in August. Lofts are prohibited outright, so skip the loft kit; beds adjust in height through a fix-it request, and risers under eight inches are fine under an unbunked bed if the mattress top stays below five feet. You get one fridge up to 4.5 cubic feet and one microwave up to 700 watts per room, or you can rent a MicroFridge. Air fryers, toaster ovens outside the apartments, hot plates, space heaters, and grills are all prohibited.
Meet up somewhere public and busy: the Trabant University Center, Perkins Student Center, Morris Library, The Green, Caesar Rodney Dining Hall, or the Carpenter Sports Building. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
Fall 2026 move-in runs Saturday, August 22 for first-years and Sunday, August 23 for upper-division and transfer students, and those two mornings are when listings turn over fastest.
