Where Buffs buy and sell
CU has 24 residence halls across three areas, and first-year students are required to live in one. Whether you're on main campus around Farrand Field in Baker, Farrand, Hallett, Willard, Libby, Cheyenne Arapaho, or Sewall, in the Kittredge complex at Kittredge Central, Kittredge West, Andrews, Arnett, Buckingham, or Smith, in the Engineering Quadrangle at Brackett, Cockerell, or Crosman, or out at Williams Village in Darley North, Darley South, Stearns, Weber, or Williams Village North, everything you need is already close. Boulder students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, skis and boards, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail. Students living off campus on the Hill and around Baseline use it too. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.
Meeting up on campus
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. The UMC, Norlin Library, the Student Recreation Center, the C4C, and Farrand Field are all easy meeting points between classes, and the Buff Bus covers the ride to Williams Village. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no driving across Boulder to meet someone off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials for engineering, business, and the sciences run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. Buying from the Buff who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends — the seller gets more than the buyback price, and the buyer pays less than retail.
The weeks that matter most
For 2026–27, CU's fall period of occupancy runs August 14 to December 12, 2026, and spring runs January 5 to May 1, 2027. Those two ends of the year are when the marketplace is busiest — graduating seniors and students heading home are clearing out furniture, fridges, and storage all at once, and incoming students need all of it. The halls also close over winter break unless you've been assigned break housing, so December is its own mini-rush. If you're selling, post before the rush. If you're buying, that's when the good stuff appears and disappears the same day.
