College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Every account is verified with a @wm.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other members of the Tribe — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

University policy keeps first-year students and sophomores in campus housing for two full academic years, and W&M spreads them across small residential neighborhoods rather than a few big towers. The Barrett area covers Barrett Hall, Jefferson Hall, and Willis Hall; the Botetourt Complex takes in Dinwiddie Hall, Fauquier Hall, Gooch Hall, Nicholson Hall, and Spotswood Hall; the Bryan Complex holds Bryan Hall, Camm Hall, Dawson Hall, Madison Hall, and Stith Hall. Then there are Chandler Hall and Landrum Hall, Monroe Hall and Old Dominion Hall, Cedar Hall, Hardy Hall, Lemon Hall, the newer West Woods buildings — Maple Hall, Oak Hall, Pine Hall, and Poplar Hall — plus DuPont Hall and Richmond Hall. Upper-level students head for Ludwell Apartments, One Tribe Place, and Tribe Square. Whatever building you land in, everything you need is already on campus. W&M students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Know the rules before you buy. Rooms come furnished with an adjustable wooden bed frame and mattress, a chest of drawers, a closet or wardrobe, a desk, and a desk chair. Mattresses are XL Twin (about 36" by 80"), so standard twin sheets won't fit; One Tribe Place and Tribe Square are the exceptions, with full-size beds. The frames raise to leave up to 30 inches of clearance underneath, and lofts and MicroFridges can be rented through Dorms Direct. Refrigerators must be Energy Star rated and 5 cubic feet or smaller, and only one microwave is allowed per room. Air fryers, hot plates, toaster ovens, space heaters, halogen lamps, and resident-installed ceiling fans are prohibited. AC varies by building: the newer halls let you set your own temperature, older halls run on a seasonal chilled-water system, and the Botetourt houses and Willis use window units upstairs.

Meet up somewhere public and busy. The lobby of the Sadler Center, the first floor of Earl Gregg Swem Library, the entrance to the Bee McLeod Recreation Center, the edge of the Sunken Garden, or right outside Commons Dining Hall all work — five minutes, hand it over, done. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
