College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Every account is verified with a @g.holycross.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Crusaders — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-year students land on Easy Street, where Brooks Hall, Clark Hall, Hanselman Hall and Lehy Hall sit within a few minutes' walk of one another, while Ciampi-Condron Hall houses the Wellbeing living-learning community in doubles with semi-private bathrooms. Sophomores largely fill Wheeler Hall, and upperclass students spread across Healy Hall, the four- to six-person suites in Alumni Hall and Carlin Hall, and Loyola Hall, which mixes doubles with three-, four- and six-person suites. Seniors move into the apartment tier: Figge Hall, Williams Hall and the Townhouses, each unit with a full kitchen, living room and private bath, billed by the College at a higher apartment housing rate than a standard room. With almost the entire student body living on the Hill, everything you need is already on campus. Holy Cross students post mini fridges, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms come furnished with an extra-long twin bed, a dresser, a desk and a desk chair for each resident, plus a built-in closet or wardrobe, so buy Twin XL sheets rather than standard twin. Several of the older buildings, Healy and Carlin among them, have no overhead lighting in the bedrooms, which makes a non-halogen lamp one of the most useful things you can pick up secondhand. Air conditioners are prohibited, and so are stand-alone microwaves; what is allowed is an approved MicroFridge unit or a refrigerator no larger than 4 cubic feet, so roommates usually coordinate on one and split the cost. Store-bought bed risers are permitted, cinder blocks are not, and extra furniture is off the list entirely, which is why compact storage and organizers move quickly here.

When it's time to hand something off, stay central and busy. Hogan Campus Center is the obvious first pick, with the College Store and mail services right inside; the steps at Dinand Library and the entrance to Kimball Dining Hall work for quick trades between classes, Kimball Quad is easy to find for anything bulky, and The Joanne Chouinard-Luth Recreation and Wellness Center covers the athletics end of campus. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
