Where Bearcats buy and sell
Whether you're in a traditional hall at Calhoun, Dabney, Daniels, or Siddall, in junior suites at Marian Spencer or Stratford Heights, in suite-style living at Turner, Schneider, or Campus Recreation Center Hall, in apartments at Morgens, Scioto, U Square, or University Park, or in returning-student housing at 101 East Corry, Gateway Lofts, or The Verge, everything you need is already on campus. Bearcats post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail. Students living off campus around Clifton Heights use it too. Same rule applies: verified students only, and the person on the other end is someone you'd pass on the way to class.
A quirk worth knowing
UC is one of the few schools where a residence hall and the rec center are the same building — Campus Recreation Center Hall sits inside the CRC. Convenient if you live there, and a useful landmark for everyone else: it's a busy, well-lit spot that's easy to find and open long hours.
Meeting up on campus
Handoffs happen at landmarks everybody already knows. Tangeman University Center, Langsam Library, the Campus Recreation Center, and the Steger Student Life Center are all easy meeting points between classes, and MainStreet ties them together. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no driving across Cincinnati to meet someone off Craigslist.
Textbooks without the bookstore markup
Course materials for engineering, DAAP, business, and the health sciences run into the hundreds of dollars a semester, and the same editions circulate through campus year after year. UC's co-op program also means students rotate in and out of terms on different schedules — which puts more furniture and gear in motion than at a school where everyone moves in and out together. Buying from the Bearcat who took the class last term beats the bookstore buyback spread on both ends.
The weeks that matter most
Move-in in August and move-out in April or May are when the marketplace is busiest. Note that apartment-style units at Morgens, Scioto, 101 Corry, U Square, and University Park include the winter and spring break periods, while the other halls exclude breaks from the academic-year contract — so there's a real December movement of students out of the traditional halls. If you're selling, post before the rush.
