Buying & selling at Chattanooga
Campus details for Chattanooga students.
College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Every account is verified with a @mocs.utc.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Mocs — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
UTC housing is almost entirely apartment- and suite-style, spread across eleven complexes. First-year students fill West Campus, Boling Apartments, Lockmiller Apartments and Guerry Apartments; upperclass students move into Johnson Obear Apartments, Stophel Apartments, UC Foundation Apartments and Stagmaier Hall, while Decosimo Apartments, Walker Apartments and Palmetto Place Apartments house a mix. All single first-year students are required to live on campus unless they qualify for an exemption, so thousands of Mocs cycle through the same buildings every August and May, and everything you need is already on campus. UTC students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, cookware and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.
Every complex comes fully furnished, and bed size is the detail worth checking before you buy sheets: extra-long twin (36" x 80") in Boling, Johnson Obear, Lockmiller and Stagmaier, full size in most private bedrooms in Guerry, Decosimo, Stophel, Walker and UC Foundation, and regular twin in shared Guerry bedrooms. Because apartments and suites come with a refrigerator already, mini-fridges are not permitted, and microwaves belong in common areas rather than bedrooms. Lofting is not allowed but bed risers are, tape and adhesive wall strips are out, and utilities, internet and laundry are included in the semester rate.
Keep hand-offs public and quick. The University Center lobby, the UTC Library, the Aquatic and Recreation Center, Maclellan Gymnasium and the Sports Complex are all busy, well-lit and a short walk from housing: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
Timing matters. Freshmen and transfers check in August 19 and 20, 2026, upperclass students on August 22, and housing contracts close at noon on May 5, 2027. Those two windows are when listings move fastest.

Help & FAQ
Common questions from Chattanooga students.
Who can use College Marketplace at Chattanooga?
Only students with a verified @mocs.utc.edu email address. Every listing you see was posted by another Chattanooga student, and your listings are only visible to the Chattanooga community.
Is it free to buy and sell at Chattanooga?
Yes. Buying, selling, and messaging are completely free. The only optional cost is a featured listing boost, which puts your item at the top of the Chattanooga feed for $2.99 for 7 days.
How do I pay the other student?
You arrange payment directly with each other — cash, Venmo, Zelle, whatever you both agree on. No money runs through the app, and there are no transaction fees.
Where should I meet to buy or sell on Chattanooga's campus?
Stick to busy, well-lit public spots — the student union, the main library, the rec center, and the dining halls are all easy meeting points between classes. Agree on a specific building before you head over, and meet during daylight hours.
