College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina. Every account is verified with a @charlotte.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Niners — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Campus housing is split across three villages, and the marketplace tends to follow the same map. First-year students land in Hawthorn Hall, Laurel Hall, Lynch Hall, Oak Hall, Scott Hall, and Wilson Hall (P16) — the six buildings reserved for first-time college students. Returning 49ers spread into the suites at Belk Hall, Holshouser Hall, Hunt Hall, Levine Hall, Miltimore Hall, Wallis Hall, and Witherspoon Hall, or into apartment-style units at Elm Hall, Pine Hall, Maple Hall, and Martin Hall. There's no multi-year live-on requirement here; housing isn't guaranteed for returning students and many move off campus after year one, which is exactly why furniture and appliances change hands so constantly. Whatever you need for the room is already on campus. Charlotte students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Know the rules before you buy anything. Nearly every bed on campus takes a Twin XL mattress (36" by 80"); only Greek Village houses use full-size doubles. Rooms come furnished with a bed, a desk and chair, a dresser, and a wardrobe rather than a built-in closet, and the frames adjust from roughly 17.5" to 42.5" at the mattress top, so beds can be bunked or raised. Free-standing loft beds are prohibited, though bed risers are allowed. Refrigerators are capped at 4.5 cubic feet total, microwaves and coffee makers are fine, and air fryers, deep fryers, rice cookers, space heaters, halogen lamps, and 3D printers are not permitted. Rooms have their own thermostats for heating and cooling, and laundry is included at no extra cost.

Meet up somewhere public and busy: the Popp Martin Student Union, J. Murrey Atkins Library, the University Recreation Center (UREC), South Village Dining Hall (SoVi), or the Cone University Center. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Fall move-in runs Wednesday, August 12 through Saturday, August 15, 2026, and that stretch — plus the last week of spring semester — is when listings move fastest. Post early if you're selling.
