Buying & selling at Charleston Southern

Campus details for Charleston Southern students.

College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Charleston Southern University in Charleston, South Carolina. Every account is verified with a @student.csuniv.edu email address — the BucMail address CSU has issued to students since August 2025 — so you're only ever trading with other Buccaneers, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Charleston Southern keeps most of its undergraduates on campus. Residence Life states that students are expected to live on campus for their first three years, with exemptions for veterans, married students, and anyone who is 21 before the semester begins. That means a steady flow of people settling into Mead Hall, the newest building and home to mostly upperclassmen, and into the suite-style halls: Quad 1, Quad 2, Quad 3, Russell East, Russell West, Women's North, and Women's South. With three years of residential living ahead of you, everything you need is already on campus. Charleston Southern students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms arrive more furnished than most people expect. In Mead Hall, each resident gets a medium loft bed, a study table with chair, a dresser, a wardrobe, and a nightstand, and the building adds a third-floor community kitchen, a large first-floor laundry room, a lounge, study rooms, and an elevator. The Blue-tier suites in the Quads, Russell, and the Women's halls are doubles that share a bathroom, sized at roughly 11 by 18 feet, while Mead's rooms run about 11 by 16 with a shared common area near 12'10" by 10'6". Measure first: a futon or rug that fit a friend's Quad room will not automatically fit a Mead suite, which is exactly why secondhand furniture moves so fast here.

Hand-offs happen in daylight, in the busiest parts of campus. Meet at Rivers Library, inside Student Center West near The Caf, outside the Brewer Center after a workout, or out on Costin Plaza between classes. Bring the item, check it, pay, done — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
