College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Every account is verified with a @cmich.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Chippewas — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

CMU requires first- and second-year students to live on campus, so most of the buying and selling here happens inside three residential communities. The East Community covers Celani Hall, Emmons Hall, Fabiano Hall, Herrig Hall, Saxe Hall and Woldt Hall. The South Community is Beddow Hall, Merrill Hall, Sweeney Hall and Thorpe Hall. The Towers Community holds Campbell Hall, Carey Hall, Cobb Hall, Kesseler Hall, Kulhavi Hall, Troutman Hall and Wheeler Hall. Graduate students — and, starting fall 2026, undergraduates who fall outside the residency requirement — can live in the University Apartments. Wherever you land, everything you need is already on campus. Central Michigan students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms arrive furnished with a Twin-XL bed (36" wide by 80" long), a dresser, a desk and chair, and closet space, so shop for Twin-XL sheets rather than standard twin. University beds raise to ten different positions and bed risers are permitted, while Celani, Fabiano, Campbell, Kesseler and Kulhavi are the halls where beds can be lofted, which is why under-bed storage bins move fast in August. Refrigerators cannot exceed 4.3 cubic feet, and the Residence Life Handbook allows microwaves only in Campbell, Celani, Fabiano, Kesseler and Kulhavi Halls, so check your building before you buy one. Air conditioning is not universal either: the East halls plus Cobb, Troutman, Wheeler, Campbell, Kesseler and Kulhavi have it, while Beddow, Merrill, Sweeney, Thorpe and Carey do not, so fans are usually the first thing to sell out.

Meet up somewhere busy and central. The Bovee University Center, Park Library, the Student Activity Center, Warriner Mall and the Food Hall at Merrill are all public, well trafficked and a short walk from the residence halls — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Timing matters too. First-year and transfer move-in is Thursday, August 27, 2026, with returning and University Apartments students arriving August 28 through 30, and the halls close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2027. Those two windows are when listings move fastest.
