College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Connecticut. Every account is verified with a @my.ccsu.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Blue Devils, not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Central's ten residence halls split into two neighborhoods. Down the hill sit Mildred Barrows Hall, Catharine Beecher Hall, Seth North Hall, which houses the campus's all-freshman Living Learning Community, and the suite-style F. Don James Hall. Up the hill you'll find Robert Sheridan Hall, Thomas Gallaudet Hall, Robert Vance Hall, Sam May Hall, and Mid-Campus Hall, the largest building on campus at roughly 630 residents. Carroll Hall rounds out the list. Central doesn't impose a blanket multi-year live-on requirement, so students cycle in and out of the halls constantly, and everything you need is already on campus. Central students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Rooms arrive furnished. A standard double comes with two extra-long twin beds, two desks, two desk chairs, a dresser, and either closets or wardrobes, so Twin XL is the sheet size to shop for. Air conditioning is not universal: James, Gallaudet, Sheridan, and Sam May are air conditioned, while Barrows, Carroll, and Vance are not, which is why Residence Life tells students in those buildings to pack a fan. Refrigerators are capped at 3.2 cubic feet and must be Energy Star rated, microwaves can't exceed 700 watts, and a standard room gets one of each, while suites get a fridge per bedroom plus one in the common area and a single microwave for the suite. Outside loft kits are prohibited, so skip the secondhand one.

When it's time to hand something off, meet somewhere public and busy. The Student Center is the obvious pick, with the University Bookstore and the Breakers Game Room inside. Elihu Burritt Library works for anything small, the C.J. Huang Recreation Center and Harrison J. Kaiser Hall are easy landmarks for bikes and bulky gear, and Hilltop Cafe is a simple mid-day meetup. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Fall 2026 move-in runs Sunday, August 23 for freshmen and transfers and Monday, August 24 for continuing students, with classes starting August 25. Spring residents return January 19, 2027. Those two windows are when listings move fastest.
