Buying & selling at Central Arkansas
Campus details for Central Arkansas students.
College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. Every account is verified with a @cub.uca.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Bears — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.
UCA requires single freshmen under 21 to live on campus for two consecutive semesters, so most new students land in one of the seven first-year halls: Arkansas Hall, Baridon Hall, Bernard Hall, Carmichael Hall, Conway Hall, Hughes Hall, or State Hall. Upperclassmen spread out into Bear Hall, Donaghey Hall, New Hall, and Farris Honors Hall, or into apartment-style living at Bear Village Apartments, Erbach Apartments, Farris Road Apartments, Oak Tree Apartments, Stadium Park Apartments, Torreyson Apartments, and the 425 House. Housing isn't guaranteed for upperclassmen, so rooms turn over constantly and everything you need is already on campus. Central Arkansas students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.
Rooms come furnished, and Housing is blunt that the furniture "must remain in the room and is not to be removed for any reason," so the real trade here is storage, seating, and small appliances. Appliance rules matter most: microwaves are not permitted in the residence halls at all, other than the university's MicroFridge unit, a 700-watt microwave paired with a 3.1 cubic foot refrigerator, limited to one per room and rented for $238.15 plus tax for the year. Farris Honors Hall runs on its own set of rules — single rooms there come with a twin bed, a desk and chair, and a wardrobe with drawers, suites are air conditioned and share a large refrigerator, bed risers top out at six inches, and microwaves up to 1,000 watts and mini fridges up to 3.8 cubic feet are allowed. UCA's network also bans wireless routers, smart plugs, smart bulbs and LED light strips, and wireless cameras, so leave those off your listings.
When it's time to hand something off, stay on campus and stay where people are. The Ronnie Williams Student Center is the obvious first choice with its food court and post office traffic, and Torreyson Library, the Thomas C. Courtway Student Recreation Center, and the shops on the ground floor of Donaghey Hall all work just as well between classes. No shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
