College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Canisius University in Buffalo, New York. Every account is verified with a @canisius.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Golden Griffins — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-year Griffs land in Bosch Hall or Frisch Hall, where roughly 300 students live in singles, doubles, and two- or four-person suites, with a social lounge and kitchenette on every floor. Upperclass students move into suite-style Dugan Hall or into the university's apartment-style housing: the Village Townhouses across from main campus and the Delavan Townhouses near Main and Delavan, both of which give every resident their own bedroom. Canisius is a live-on campus: students admitted for fall 2026 must live on campus as first-years, sophomores and juniors unless they commute from a parent or legal guardian's home, which means three straight years of setting up a room and clearing it out. Everything you need is already on campus. Canisius students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Housing rules shape what's worth buying secondhand here. Rooms come furnished, and university-issued furniture has to stay in the assigned room all year, so the market is in what you add on top. The packing list calls for twin-size sheet sets, and personal refrigerators are capped at 4.3 cubic feet — the townhouses and common-area kitchens already have one, so it's hall residents doing the shopping. Microwaves aren't permitted in residence hall rooms, only in the public kitchens, while the apartments include one in the unit. Air conditioners are prohibited in the halls, so fans move fast in late August. Air fryers, toasters, slow cookers and rice cookers can't be used in rooms either, and extension cords are out although approved power strips are fine. Laundry is coin-free and built into the room rate, so skip the quarters and buy a drying rack instead.

Meet up somewhere busy and central. The Richard E. Winter Student Center, Economou Dining Hall, the Andrew L. Bouwhuis, SJ Library, the Koessler Athletic Center and Science Hall are all easy walk-ups between classes: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Timing matters. New students move in Friday, August 21, 2026, and returning students follow on August 22 and 23, the busiest stretch of the year for fridges and furniture. The move-out rush is when the deals come back around.
