College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo, California. Every account is verified with a @calpoly.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Mustangs — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

First-years land in yakʔitʸutʸu, the towers at Sierra Madre Hall and Yosemite Hall, the red-brick South Mountain halls — Fremont Hall, Muir Hall, Santa Lucia Hall, Sequoia Hall, Tenaya Hall and Trinity Hall — or in the North Mountain halls: Diablo Hall, Lassen Hall, Palomar Hall, Shasta Hall and Whitney Hall. Second years, transfers and grad students move into apartment living at Cerro Vista Apartments, Poly Canyon Village Apartments, or the newest building, łktoʔ. Everyone entering in fall 2026 has to live on campus for their first two years, so that is two full move-in cycles — and everything you need is already on campus. Cal Poly students post futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes and used textbooks every semester, usually for a fraction of retail.

Know the rules before you buy. Every bed on campus, hall or apartment, is a 38" x 80" twin extra long, so standard twin sheets will not fit. Hall rooms already come with a desk and chair, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe or closet and a compact refrigerator — North Mountain rooms include a microwave too — and Housing does not permit extra fridges or microwaves without an approved accommodation. Lofted beds and risers are not allowed, only Housing staff may adjust bed height or safety rails, and a mattress topper has to leave five inches of clearance below the top of the rail. Air fryers, toasters, rice cookers and blenders are barred from student rooms, but Cerro Vista and Poly Canyon Village apartments have full kitchens, which is where the pots-and-pans listings come from.

Meet up somewhere busy and central: the Julian A. McPhee University Union, UU Plaza, the Robert E. Kennedy Library, the Cal Poly Recreation Center, 1901 Marketplace or Vista Grande. All of them are a short walk from housing and full of people: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.

Timing matters: first-year and transfer move-in is Aug. 18–19, 2026, continuing residents arrive Aug. 21–22, and license agreements end at noon on May 23, 2027. Those windows are when listings move fastest.
