College Marketplace is the student-only buy and sell app for Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Every account is verified with a @students.cookman.edu email address, so you're only ever trading with other Wildcats — not strangers from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Housing at B-CU skews young and close-knit, because every single freshman and sophomore enrolled in twelve or more credit hours is required to live in university housing and carry a meal plan unless the housing office approves an exemption. First-year students land in halls like the Oswald P. Bronson Complex, JaFlo Davis Hall, Marjorie Joyner Hall, LeFevre Hall, and the suite-style Phase II Building C and Phase II Building D. Upperclass and mixed-class residents fill Hanks Moorehead A and Hanks Moorehead B, the Living Learning Center (Lee, Moore, and Thompson Halls), and the Lee Rhyant Honors Residential Center, which asks residents to hold at least a 3.0 GPA. With that many students turning over the same few blocks off Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard each August and May, everything you need is already on campus. B-CU students post mini fridges, futons, storage bins, desk lamps, monitors, bikes, and gently used textbooks every semester — usually for a fraction of retail.

Know the rules before you buy. Rooms come furnished with a bed and mattress, desk, chair, dresser, and wardrobe closet, and the room charge already covers WiFi, cable, laundry, and computer lab access, so the real gaps are bedding, storage, and small electronics. Bring extra-long twin sheets; a standard twin set won't fit. Refrigerators have to be UL-approved, no more than 3.5 cubic feet, and draw no more than 1.5 running amps — and microwaves and fridges are the only cooking appliances allowed. Hot plates, air fryers, toasters, Crock-Pots, coffee makers, blenders, rice cookers, and grills are all prohibited, as are extension cords, routers, and plasma TVs, so plan on a surge protector and Command Strips instead. A few halls have no elevator, which is worth asking about before somebody offers you a couch on the fourth floor.

When it's time to trade, meet somewhere public and busy. The Carl S. Swisher Library is the easiest landmark on campus, and Wildcat Dining, Moore Gymnasium, Heyn Memorial Chapel, and the Performing Arts Center all work for a quick handoff between classes — no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
