Rooms come furnished with a twin XL bed and mattress, a dresser, a desk and chair, and a closet, so twin XL sheets are one of the most-traded items on the app. Every residence hall is air conditioned, and electricity, water, cable, ethernet and wireless, and laundry are all bundled into the semester rate — nobody is hunting for quarters. Gold and McMahon rooms already include a microwave, so check your building before you buy one. And since you can't put nails or hooks into the walls or ceiling — white sticky-tack or blue painter's tape only — command strips, freestanding shelving, and over-the-door organizers move fast.
When it's time to meet up, stick to the busy places. The Hill Student Center is the obvious one, with the UAB Bookstore right inside it. Mervyn Sterne Library works well for smaller handoffs like textbooks and calculators, the Campus Recreation Center lobby has steady traffic all day, and the Campus Green is an easy landmark for anything you'd rather carry outside. All of it is a short walk from the halls: no shipping labels, no delivery fees, no meeting someone off campus.
